How do I know that the veil or birdcage colour is going to match my dress?
Getting an exact colour match for your birdcage or veil is always difficult when you are buying over the internet. When looking at bridal accessories and dresses, you will be now have realised that everyone’s “white” and “ivory” is slightly different from everyone elses – there will always be slight inconsitencies betwee shades of colour. We have done our best to describe our colour descriptions in our Colour & Length Guide. Together with the photos of the headpieces, we hope that this is sufficient to guide you. And remember, if the birdcage or veil is not an exact colour match to the dress, it doesn’t matter. Chances are nobody will notice a very slight shade difference!
I’m not sure what length of veil would suit me best – how do I decide?
Again, this is completely a matter of personal taste. Some people want a short veil or birdcage, purely as an accessory or finishing touch to their dress. Others prefer making a statement with an extravegantly embelleshed veil. Others want a long veil for that sweeping, romantic look, to frame their dress. This decision will depend partly on the style of your dress, and partly on the style of your wedding, but mainly just on what you like the look of. There’s no right or wrong – it’s your day, it’s completely your choice.
What are the birdcages and veils made from?
The material that each of our birdcages and veils is made from is in the description beside each item on the product page. As many of our items are bespoke – we do not make or order many in bulk – the material varies between items. However, as a general rule, most birdcages are made with French netting and most veils are made with tulle – which is slightly softer than netting – whilst a few veils are made with netting to give a more definite, structured shape. Some of the veils have Spanish lace edging (mainly the mantilla style veils), some are embellished with diamante, some with pearl beads, some with embroidery. The description of each birdcage or veil will also describe the edging and/or embellishments. This may be diamante, pearls, feathers, a cut edge, a pencil edge, a satin edge of varying widths or a lace edge.
